ASAHI SHIMBUN
Members of Stella Polaris performed well at this year’s Asahi Shimbun exhibition. Five authors had sent print for evaluation, and all five received accepts.
Asahi Shimbun is a Japanese print salon. Although submitted about 9,000 images, they only accept 130 images, half from Japan and half from the rest of the world! It’s almost easier to win in the lottery than to get an acceptance here. All accepted images receive a gold medal.
The high jumpers in Stella Polaris are Ole Suszkiewicz, who through the time has 13 acceptances in total, including nine consecutive years, as well as Nils-Erik Jerlemar, who has impressive eight accept. Then follows Jan-Thomas Stake with four, Roald Synnevåg with two and finally Bjarne Hyldgaard, who received the first acceptance this year.
You can see Nil-Erik Jerlemars acceptshere. Enjoy!
OLE SUSZKIEWICZ – EFIAP/D2
As the first Dane ever, Ole Suszkiewicz is awarded the EFIAP/D2 distinction.
Ole says: “Since I was a young man I have always taken photos, when I had the opportunity. It started with monochrome in the kitchen of my parents, then many years slides and finally digital. I am not a good technician, however, I have a good feeling how to make a picture in a simple way using a few steps in Photoshop Elements 5. I take almost all kind of subjects, however, afterwards I prefer to make experimental pictures. I like to create my own reality. Normally it starts with the background, it could be a bit of a wall with a special colour. Then I think: Do I have a figure, which would do well there? And so on . .l feel like a painter coming more and more details on the screen.”
A big congratulation to Ole for his achievement!

It’s not sunny days that have fascinated me og the composers, but the drama that follows the shift in weather conditions.”

Honorary Consciousness for Extensive Nordic Work
HonENFFF is a hallmark of which NFFF allocates individuals in the member countries for extensive and long-term administrative work for amateur photography in the Nordic countries.
The first two who receive this honorary character are both members of Stella Polaris Photo Group.
Göran Zebühr, Sweden
Nils-Erik Jerlemar, Sweden
Monica Wennblom (NFFF) handles the distinctions to Göran (left) and Nils-Erik. This happened at RSF’s National Photomeeting in May 2017. Big congrats!
