Mr. ROALD SYNNEVÅG

Roald Synnevåg started taking photographs in 1978 and joined Bekkalokket Photo Club in Bergen, Norway, the same year. After having achieved good results in Bekkalokket’s competitions for many years, in 1987 he started taking part in the national competitions. He is currently ranked as number 3 in the national competitions, which have been held annually since 1930.
Roald started participating in FIAP approved competitions in 1990 and had his first photo accepted in Latvia that year.
He held his first separate exhibition in 2005, and since 2009, he have permanent exhibition at two public service office in Norway. In 2014 and 2022 exhibition in Austrheim municipality. In 2017 his MFIAP collection was exhibited in Jinan in China. He have also have five small exhibitions on the national Preus Photomuseum in Horten.
His pictures have been accepted/awarded in 106 different countries all over the world, so far with a total of 1138 different images. He photographs street scenes, some portraits, nature scenes; insects, landscape, birds, bears. He only uses natural light in his photographs.
He have been an elected representative for Bekkalokket Photo Club for 45 years, and in 2002 I was appointed as Honorary Member of Bekkalokket Fotoklubb. He was one of the founders of Stella Polaris Photogroup in 2014, that is an club for photograpers in Scandinavia.
In 1993, he was elected to be a member of the board in NSFF- Norsk Selskap For Fotografi (Norwegian Society of Photography), and all in all in NSFF he have served 25 years as representative, so far 18 years as secretary, 4 years as vice-president and 7 years as president. In addition, he have been NSFF’s web editor for 7 years, and he have been in charge of collecting historical materials and scanning/editing our photo collection of approximately 12.000 photos from 1930 to 2005.
In 2007 Roald was appointed as honorary member of NSFF, and in 2012 he was appointed as honorary president of NSFF. From 2015 to 2018 he was engaged in FIAP Federation International De L`art Photographique as Director of FIAP Magazine Service. From 2018 to 2020 he was engaged as PSA Liaison Officer and Membership director in Photographic Society of America.
In 2015 Roald was one of the founders in the Nordic Society of Photography, and have been secretary there since then. For his involvement in the Nordic Society of Photography he got in 2018 HonENFFF Honorary Excellence Nordic Society of Photography, in 2020 Excellence service Silver- Suomen Kameraseurojen Lutto (Assosiasjon of Finnish camera clubs), and in 2022 Excellence service Gold – Riksförbundet Svensk Fotografi (Swedish Society of Photography)
Roald is currently secretary in NSFF- Norsk Selskap For Fotografi (Norwegian Society of Photography), and general secretary in NFFF – Nordic Society of Photography. He am also chairman for Fjord-Bergen Exhibition of Photographic Art, and board member of Pictorial Print Division in PSA.
