Mrs. SIGNE GRY ISAKSEN
AFIAP, MNFFF/b, NSMiF/g, ENSFF
Signe Gry Isaksen is a Norwegian photographer living in southern Norway. She can be described as playful, curious and not afraid to try something completely new. Her greatest passion in photography is people, nature/wildlife and animals.
She has been taking photos on and off since childhood, but she discovered a new world in photography when she, in 2018, decided to turn off all automatic functions on the camera. Since then, the camera has been stayed put in “Manual” position.
Curiosity and desire to learn has further resulted in countless hours behind the camera in nature, often accompanied by “man’s best friend”. Many good memories have been made through her lens, and her iris, hiking with the dog and camera. Being out in nature is the best way to recharge your batteries. Just live in the moment.
By a bit of a coincidence, in 2019, she also got interested in portrait photography, and this interest has grown more and more the last few years. Signe Gry finds it very inspiring to work with people. The collaboration between her and her models, to bring out different expressions. Trying to capture the personality, or rather the different personalities within the same person – because everyone is so complex, she says. At the same time, her passion for black and white photography, has grown as well.
Signe Gry took part in her first photography championship in 2018 and she finds it both exciting, and at the same time very educational to participate in competitions. She has also served as a judge in national photo competitions. She finds great joy and inspiration in looking at other people’s photographs, both amateurs and professionals. The expressions and feelings other photographers manage to create through a photograph. “I’m hobby photographer, with passion for photography. I believe, by studying photographs by others, I will become a better photograph myself”
