Mr. LEIF ALVEEN

GMPSA, EFIAP/d1, NSMiF/p, MSDF/b

Leif is a Danish photographer born in 1967. He has been taking pictures since a very young age and really got the bug when attending photography classes as a young teenager. A very common story is that life got in the way and photography took a more supportive role while raising kids and enjoying family life.

With the kids getting bigger he took up the picturemaking seriously in the mid 2000s and competitive photography soon after. Since then he has had pictures accepted for exhibition in about 100 countries and awarded in approximately 60. The greatest honor, if you ask him, was the times his images has been chosen for the cover of exhibition catalogues. He is also an experienced international judge of photography competitions, having been invited to judge in many countries, for example China, Iran, Ireland and USA.

He does not have a destinctive picture style, but rather let the subject and mood define the look of the final image. He gets a lot of inspiration from visiting new locations around the world and takes great pride in getting images from these places, which are not merely the well known tourist shots.

Also working for photography in an organizational capacity he was involved in laying the groundwork for what became the Nordic Federation of Photography (NFFF), and has in 2022 been reappointed to the board of that organization. He is a founding member of Scandinavian Stella Polaris Photo Group and a former president of the Society for Danish Photography (SDF). For these and other efforts he has been awarded HonENFFF (Honorary excellence) and APSA (Associate of Photographic Society of America).
